If you have braces, you likely have a hard time flossing, like many people do. Flossing when you have braces can be quite difficult and time-consuming, which can lead to locking the dental floss in the bathroom drawer for weeks. This is dangerous for your smile because flossing is important for your oral health. So, to help make flossing easier and more convenient, our orthodontist, Dr. Gary Lee Breece, has some tips for you, which are:
-Use waxed floss: Waxed floss is one of the easier products to use because it has a waxy coating. The waxy coating makes it possible to slide the floss into tightly knit places and around the appliance without breaking easily.
-Use floss threaders: Floss threaders help you thread the floss under your braces. It is a loop-shaped tool that pulls the floss under the wires quickly. This can reduce the time it takes to floss your smile and it can reduce the trouble you experience trying to thread the floss under the wires on your own.
-Use a water flosser: A water flosser is a handy tool that sprays water from the tip of a wand. When you place the tip between two teeth and turn it on, the water sprays with such force that it cleans the area. This can make cleaning your smile easier when you have braces.
