Ideally, orthodontic assessments should start early. Children should be evaluated by an orthodontist by age seven. At this age, Dr. Gary Lee Breece can detect any issues with jaw growth and development and emerging teeth. The child’s bite and teeth can then be monitored. Most children begin orthodontic treatment between the ages of 9 and 14.

During your child’s orthodontic evaluation in Enid, Oklahoma, Dr. Gary Lee Breece will ask questions about your child’s past and current oral health. The mouth and teeth are checked for any signs of malocclusion (crooked teeth or a bad bite). X-rays and photos will be taken of your child’s face and teeth. A model will be made of your child’s teeth if necessary.

Early detection of any orthodontic issues means that our orthodontist can begin treatment when it is most advantageous. Dr. Gary Lee Breece will monitor the development of your child’s teeth and bite until the time is right to begin treatment.

Early orthodontic treatment usually takes less time than adult orthodontics. However, this does not mean that if you did not have orthodontic treatment as a child, it is too late. Orthodontics for adults is becoming more and more common.
